I havent been completely idle...and I won a contest

I know its been alittle while since my last update but work has been kicking my ass lately and most of my free time has been spent with family, painting, some gaming, or just being completely lazy and apathetic.

Gaming wise I have gotten into the whole Weird War II thing- games like Dust, Secrets of WWII, AE WWII, and Incursion. I also got a chance to help play test War Without End for 2 Hour Wargames which turned out to be a great supplement for Nuts! 2.0. I think the whole subject is cool, refreshing, and has a sense of new I haven't really experienced gaming wise in a long time. So armed with that excuse, unsurprisingly, I went out and picked up a whole horde of more models to add to the pile of unfinished lead.

I also entered FFGs first Dust Painting contest ( Linky Linky ). I ended up painting a Ludwig Medium Panzer Mech. Im pretty happy with the results and even managed to take first place in the Walker Category.

Ive also finished up a few more minis that I will post as soon as I get a chance to get some pics.

An open letter to GW...

Having been in wargaming for the last 26 odd years I have learned to usually stay out of the GW discussions online only becuase it generally almost always turns into the same old arguments, rants, raves, bitches, whining, and moaning from most sides in the discussion. The folks at miniwargaming however have actually presented a good discussion without turning into the bull listed above.

On a side note I still buy GW products that I like or want but I tend to agree with most of his points. Anyway pass the video along if you agree with it.

Long overdue update on terrain board

Sorry for the lack of updates Id like to blame real life and work for all of it but mainly its becuase I just havent got around to it. Anyways I have been working here and there on this project. I finished painting and flocking the game board...
These pics are a kind of old...since then Ive started basing, painting, and flocking the trees and terrain pieces. Ill try and get some pics of them soon. I also have begun purchasing and assembling some scenario specific terrain pieces such as a crashed Valykrie with dead crew for our Imunda/ Necro games, a large temple like structure, and Im working ideas for a Nazi Basecamp in the South American jungles to stage their missions into Antartica from which I plan to include a UFO/ Saucer in (Weird War II is my current new shiny favorite thing for gaming).
Till next time (which I really will try to make sooner I promise).

New Project

Sorry for the lack of updates lately but real life has reared its ugly head and kind of kept me entirely too busy for my liking. So ADD has struck this week and Ive started a new project (as if I didnt have too many ideas already but what the hell) . Ill take WIP shots as I go for those who have been asking about techniques and methods. Anyway on with the project....

Heres some inspiration to get in the mood

All props go to the origianl artists of the pics...
Alrighty then now that I was in the mood the plan is to take all this stuff

plus some pink foam, mdf, sting, turf/ scenic items, a crashed Valkryie (for that Apocolypse Now look), water effects, about 40 more palm type trees, and whatever else I can think of to make a jungle board. The green board is an old Warzone folding game board that I got off someone that was pretty well used up that I decided to refurbish and use as the base board for the project. The white areas on the board are standard Latex house paint mixed with sand and have been painted up in earth tones (got to dark to take pics of it tonight though).

Ill try and update the blog with this project on a regular basis.

A small update and some minis

Hi all. Ive managed to overcome my apathy and avoid procrastination this week and made myself work on my models. For the most part Ive been working on some more of my minis for our 40K skirmish gaming. First up is the Deathwatch marine I posted WIPs for a little while ago. The Marine is from the Black Templar chapter so I went for a somewhat crusader look with loads of relics and religious icons to show his faith in the cause.

The last pic shows the size of the marine against an normal SM model. This was my first attempt at making a Truescale Marine. Overall Im happy with the results and think he came out OK. I did learn a few things while making the model which will help on the next one.

Next up is a little mutie I made. The original inspiration for this chap was themutant guardsman out of the old Inquisitor rulebook.

Again overall I am happy with the mini (if not my piss poor phot skills). The last pic is a scale shot with my True scale marine which shows how small and pitiful the poor sod is...

Also had the chance to finish up one of the statues from the Honored Imperium boxset.

and a preview of one of my upcoming projects.

One thing on my "to do" list is to get and area set up to take better pics...
